    Abstract

This project forms part of Greek theatre performance studies -in attention to its three genres: tragedy, comedy and satyr drama-, considering theatre from a political and social perspective, in the sense that it helps to the construction of the state, reinforcing, but also questioning, its democratic ideological foundation. On that basis, and continuing with previous studies about emotions -whose meaning is regarded more social than individual-, we will do research into the intersections between materiality and emotions, exploring how bodies and props interact on the scene in the affective domain, and to what extent theater reflects the emotional response of Athenian people to that objects. We believe that this broad approach will help us to better understand Greek theater and also to explore less researched aspects of ancient emotions.
